-------------------------------------------------------------
Micah:
I was born in May of 1961. The next thirty years seem to have been spent
mostly in various classrooms. Then in 1991, I completed work on my Masters
degree in literature with my thesis on Mark Helprin's WINTER'S TALE. By
applying J.R.R. Tolkien's fairy tale criteria to the novel, I sought to
establish it as an example of the wedding of fantasy and realism that Tolkien
called "high fairy story."
Tolkien himself had a supporting role in my graphic novel HEAVEN'S WAR,
published late 2003 by Image Comics. Along with C.S. Lewis and the novel's
protagonist Charles Williams, he formed a posse of Oxford Inklings intent on
foiling the heaven crashing plans of occultist Aleister Crowley!
I also had two plays produced in the '90s: "Mermaids on Black Velvet" and
"Kiss of Rowena" and published non-fiction in Fantasy Empire, Cinemagic and the
TWIN PEAKS fanzine Wrapped in Plastic. I've written four prose novels,
including NO MONKEYS TYPING SHAKESPEARE and MOTHER MARY COMES TO ME. Currently
I am working on another graphic novel, a 1930s Occult adventure, entitled
STRANGE PASSAGES, with artist Loston Wallace.
I teach composition, literature and film at a community college in North
Carolina, where I live with my Maine Coon cat, Izzy B.
