About Us
-----------------------------------------------------------
I formed Richard Henshaw Group in
1995. We are a very small shop and intend to remain so. We offer our
clients the personal attention that few larger agencies can provide
while our extensive contacts and international partnerships provide an
exemplary level of service. The Agency is a member of the Association
of Author's Representatives (AAR)
and is affiliated with a variety of writers' organizations.
For detailed information about
Richard Henshaw Group and the manner in which we conduct business see
the AAR Checklist for authors.
I am 41 years old. Married to Liza Lambert
Henshaw. Father of Rick (6) and Jack (3) and Riley (2). I graduated
from Franklin & Marshall College in 1986 with a BA in English and a
minor in Philosophy. I spent the year following my graduation working
for a law firm and taking publishing courses at NYU in the evening
before deciding that law school wasn't for me and that agenting might
be. In 1987 I joined Richard Curtis Associates, a leading literary
agency, where after a few years of learning the ropes I began to take on
clients of my own. While there I represented a wide variety of fiction
(crime fiction was a specialty) and nonfiction. I also held the title
of Director of Foreign Rights and was responsible for marketing the
translation rights to the works of over 120 professional writers. In
January of 1995 it was time to go out on my own and thankfully many of
my clients followed.
Susannah
Taylor graduated from James Madison College within Michigan State
University, completing her degree with a semester at the University
of Auckland in Auckland, New Zealand. She interned at Richard
Henshaw Group from 1997-2000 and then joined the agency full-time as
an associate agent. She's been building her list, which
includes romance, women's fiction, mysteries, and non-fiction ever since.
